Business Abuse of Power

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely,” Lord Acton

Overview

Money is Power - and Lord Acton's conclusion that power corrupts applys to all forms of power based on money, religion, or government.  In the case of business, the more the money the more the power and the desire to use it.  In a free society businesses are prohibited from exercising physical force to compel people to do what they want.  So they frequently turn to the source of coercive power, the government to get them to do what they can't do for themselves.  Historically it wasn't always so.  Some companies hired their own armies to enforce their control over geographic areas or thugs to bust up their competitors businesses.  Businesses are much more civilized now, they steal in the name of the common good and public interest with the help of the political cronies.
